So I take it no one else has done anything since their school days either, huh?

Re: You what?
Mon, January 2, 2006 - 8:35 AMWell, I can't say I've done nothing. When I left school, I worked in a couple of animal shelters (my other greatest love). Got fired recently so now I'm finally trying the art thing. I figure, if I was on my death bed and looked back on my life to see that I never tried to do anything with my gift, I'd be full of regret. Besides, just 'cause I don't have professors and other students holding my hand doesn't mean I'm not capable of being my own artist. If anything, my work will be more origional and pure. I think that school provides the structure that some artists need, but for some others it's smothering. Artists who cut themselves free of the constraints of the institution can float into creative sovriegnty. I think the tricky part is being able to self teach yourself about self marketing, the biz, and whatever you'd have easy access to in school. -

Tue, January 3, 2006 - 6:09 AMDon't get me wrong, i don't miss the institution . . .
It's the $3 million dollar studio and the relatively unlimited access to players, gear and instruments I miss :-P -

Re: You what?
Mon, March 5, 2007 - 2:36 PMHuh - that's a kind of negative way to ask that. Actually, I feel more like an artist now than I ever did in school - but then I never bought into that idea that school somehow miraculously gives us talent. I've worked on a lot of projects, got a grant for a BM sculpture, done several paintings and sculptures and produced several events. I wouldn't quite call that nothing. I'd like to ask - what exciting things have you all been doing since art school failed to fit your expanding soul?
